What is Bamboo Fabric?

Bamboo fabric is a luxuriously soft natural  fabric that you will adore and will enjoy wrapping our precious baby in

It so soft that it feels like cashmere, this is thought to be because the fibres are naturally smooth with no tiny spurs that irritate the skin.

Facts about Bamboo Fabric

 


  • Naturally Organic: Bamboo is grown without pesticides or fertilisers, unlike conventional cotton. Bamboo Baby's yarn is OEKO-TEX 100 certified and their organic cotton is certified by SKAL/GOTS

 

  • Luxuriously Soft: feels like cashmere.The fibres are naturally smooth and round with no tiny spurs that irritate the skin

 

  • Sustainable: Moso Bamboo is the worlds fastest growing plant growing up to a meter a day. Bamboo is a grass, so once cut it will grow back again just like your lawn!

 

  • Eco-Friendly: Bamboo absorbs 35% more carbon dioxide than an equivalent stand of trees

 

  • Absorbent: Bamboo absorbs up to 60% more water than cotton

 

  • Breathable: The porous nature of bamboo fibre makes it breathable and extremely comfortable against the skin

 

  • Thermo-regulating: This just means that it keeps you warm in winter and cool in summer!

Wash & Care Information

Clothing Care
All denim, jersey, fleece items should be machine washed at 30 degrees. (Can be washed at 40 degrees).

Knitwear should be hand washed or machine washed on a cold wool cycle.

There may be up to 5% shrinkage after the first wash.Tumble drying is not recommended.Iron on low heat.


Help Save the Environment
The main environmental impact is in the washing of clothes.Washing at a lower temperature reduces all environmental impacts by around 10%.Eliminating tumble drying leads to around 50% reduction in the global climate change impact of the garment.

 

 

 

Certifications

 

 

OCIA/NOP/GOTS

 

All of Bamboo Baby's bamboo fibre is made with certified organic bamboo. The farm where the bamboo is grown is certified by OCIA International and the bamboo crops are certififed by the USDA Organic Seal. Their organic cotton is certified by GOTS.

 

Flo-Cert & SA8000

 

Flo-Cert are an independent international certification agency for Fairtrade production processes. Social accountibilitystandard - SA8000 is the most widely recognised global standard for managing human rights in the workplace. Bamboo Baby's factory have both these certifications as well as the Organic Exchange 100 certificate whic is a standard for tracking and documenting the purchase , handling and use of 100% certified organic fibres in yarns and fabrics.

 

Oeko-Tex 100

 

Oeko-Tex Standard 100 is is an international testing and certification system for textiles, limiting the use of certain certain chemicals. Bamboo Baby's bamboo fibre is Oeko-Tex certified.
